How to get there
Due to limited parking capacity, we strongly recommend travelling by public transport. UNESCO World Heritage Zollverein can be easily reached by public transport.
From Duisburg, Bochum and Gelsenkirchen
Take a regional train to Zollverein Nord station and enjoy a 15-minute walk across the UNESCO World Heritage Zollverein to the Ehrenhof, where the Opening Night will take place.
Alternatively, you can take a regional train to Essen Hauptbahnhoff and then take Tram 107, also known as the “Kulturlinie”, which takes you to the stop “Zollverein” – this stop is located right outside Ehrenhof, our Opening Night venue. This line connects Essen’s main station to our venue within 20 minutes.
From Gelsenkirchen
Tram 107 directly connects Gelsenkirchen Hauptbahnhof to the stop Essen Zollverein, immediately next to the Ehrenhof.
From within Essen
Tram 107 runs from the south of the city to the stop Essen Zollverein, connecting with several tram, train and bus routes along the way, including at Essen Hauptbahnhof.
Plan your trip
To plan your trip, we recommend using the eezy.nrw app, available for iOS and Android. For the most current updates, please consult zuginfo.nrw to keep track of your chosen regional train.
Shuttle busses
Additionally, Ruhrbahn organises special shuttle busses to connect Essen Hauptbahnhof and Essen Zollverein for the Opening Night. These can be recognised by the “Manifesta 16 Ruhr Shuttle” sign on the front of the bus. The exact location of the bus stop at Essen Hauptbahnhof will be announced via this page soon.
Parking
If you do choose to arrive by car, we recommend using the parking areas PA1 and PA2. Enter “Fritz-Schupp-Allee" in your navigation device or find them via the map below. Please note that there is limited parking capacity. We strongly encourage visitors to travel by public transport.
Accessibility
The Manifesta 16 Ruhr Opening Night venue (Ehrenhof) is fully accessible for wheelchair users. Wheelchair accessible toilets are available, with the nearest one located in Hall 5. Accessible parking spaces can be found in the car parks A1 and A2.
