It’s here! Our Manifesta 16 Ruhr catalogue “This is not a church” is out now!

Bringing together newly commissioned works, installation views, essays, project documentation and contributions from participants, Creative Mediators, researchers and local partners, the catalogue offers a comprehensive look into Manifesta 16 Ruhr – and the many voices, places and practices that have shaped this edition.

The catalogue is accompanied by our Urban Vision publication, developed in the lead-up to the biennial. Based on workshops, field research and interdisciplinary conversations across the Ruhr Area, it explores the future of post-war churches and their potential to become shared civic spaces for participation, exchange and everyday encounters.

Together, the two publications trace the ideas behind Manifesta 16 Ruhr and how they have taken shape across our twelve venues and their neighbourhoods.
