Manifesta 16 Ruhr opens on the 20th of June at UNESCO World Heritage Site Zollverein

Come dance with us on the Opening Night of Manifesta 16 Ruhr at UNESCO World Heritage Zollverein – entry is free and open to all!

On Saturday the 20th of June 2026, the iconic Zeche Zollverein, a UNESCO World Heritage site, becomes a gathering place for art, music and collective exchange.

Against the backdrop of impressive industrial architecture, this summer evening will launch Manifesta's 16th edition with an exciting line-up of performances and live music.

The programme features a large-scale bell composition by Dúo Barber-Palacios (Manifesta 16 Ruhr participants), alongside performances by the Ruhrkohle-Chor and Cute Community Circuit featuring Başak Merev, Jamalsrevenge, Justice, Kioomars Musayyebi, Mohammad Tamim and Orli. The night continues with energetic DJ sets by Kessler (Live) and ODA Haliti (Manifesta 14 Prishtina). Official speeches will take place between 19.30-20.00.

The Manifesta 16 Ruhr Opening Night is free and open to all – no registration needed! Guests are welcome from 18.00, with the official programme taking place from 19.00–23.00.
